Code Enforcement

The Town of Oak Grove’s Code Enforcement program helps protect the health, safety, and quality of life of residents, businesses, and visitors by ensuring compliance with the Town’s ordinances and applicable regulations.

Code Enforcement addresses violations involving conditions that may negatively affect the appearance, safety, or orderly operation of the community. These may include, but are not limited to, property maintenance concerns, accumulation of trash or debris, overgrown vegetation, nuisance conditions, and other violations of Town ordinances.

Enforcement and Administration

Code Enforcement within the Town of Oak Grove is enforced by the Oak Grove Police Department, under the direction of the Chief of Police. Officers and designated personnel work to identify potential violations, investigate complaints, communicate with property owners and responsible parties, and take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.

The goal of Code Enforcement is not simply to issue citations or penalties, but to encourage voluntary compliance and help property owners and residents understand and resolve ordinance violations. When voluntary compliance cannot be achieved, the Town may pursue enforcement measures authorized by applicable ordinances and state law.

Reporting a Code Concern

Residents and members of the public who believe a property or condition may be in violation of a Town ordinance are encouraged to report their concerns to the Oak Grove Police Department. Providing accurate information about the location and nature of the concern can help personnel investigate the matter efficiently.

Code Enforcement plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming community. The Town of Oak Grove appreciates the cooperation of residents, property owners, and businesses in helping preserve the quality and character of our community.
